This Discovery Park maternity shoot felt very on-brand for Seattle in the best way.
The day was foggy, chilly, and a little gray, with the kind of soft coastal light that makes everything feel calm and muted. We met near the lighthouse and wandered along the beach, letting the session unfold naturally as the fog rolled in and out. The weather wasn’t exactly warm, but these two handled it like absolute champs and somehow made the whole thing look effortless.
This couple is expecting their first baby, and there was such an easy, natural dynamic between them. It was one of those sessions where very little direction was needed because they were fully present and comfortable together.
Discovery Park is one of my favorite locations for Seattle maternity shoots, especially on days like this. The lighthouse, open shoreline, and moody skies create a backdrop that feels timeless without trying too hard. Foggy days get a bad reputation, but they often produce the softest light and the most relaxed sessions.
Just a good reminder that maternity photos don’t need perfect weather or a big production. Sometimes all you need is a beautiful location, a couple willing to lean into the day, and a little Seattle fog to set the tone.
