This summer I met up with Caitlyn, Alex, and their daughter Sloane for a family photo session at a quiet little beach near the Fauntleroy ferry dock in West Seattle. Even though it was a cloudy summer day, the soft light made for a calm and natural setting—perfect for relaxed family portraits by the water.
I’ve been photographing Caitlyn and Alex since their intimate church elopement in 2020, and it’s been such a privilege to continue capturing their story as their family has grown. Each year brings new milestones, and watching Sloane’s personality come to life has been one of my favorite parts of documenting their sessions.
During this shoot, Sloane was curious and playful—exploring the sand, watching the waves, and taking breaks for hugs with mom and dad. Sessions like this are a reminder that family photography isn’t just about posed portraits, but also about capturing genuine connection and personality in a meaningful location.
As a Seattle family photographer, I’m always looking for beautiful backdrops that feel natural and allow families to relax. This hidden beach in West Seattle is one of my favorites, and I love how it combines the feeling of a quiet getaway with the convenience of being so close to the city.
If you’re looking for family photos in Seattle or West Seattle, this area is a great option for creating timeless images in a relaxed, scenic setting.
